Old furniture

I have always liked old things and furniture. Interior design is close to my heart and particularly delightful is bargain hunting.

In summer 2011 we were in Stockholm and we brought with us an unusually large souvenir which barely fit into our car. On the backside of the convertible sofa we found a label telling that the manufacturer was Karl Bohman Snickerifabrik.
Virserums Möbelmuseum kindly sent us more information, based on which the sofa was in the factory's production already in the early 1900s.

The woollen carpet which we once bought to our daughter did not anymore match in her new home. So I got the idea of reusing the carpet on our sofa. I recalled seeing corresponding use of carpet in Hvitträsk at Kirkkonummi/Finland. The dimensions of the carpet fit perfectly, precisely as if it had been custom-made.

This convertible sofa No 58 was already in the manufacturer's 1902 catalogue.
